It’s day three and we’re still wandering the floors of the 2014 Outdoor Retailers Show. We’re looking for some new products for your outdoor adventures.  Today we found some great new camping and emergency preparedness ideas as well as ideas for summer and winter sports.

Stick with us as we try to cover the entire hall by this Saturday.  There’s lot to see and we’ll bring you as much as we can.

Victorinox classic plus nailclip

As Victorinox Swiss Army celebrates their 130th anniversary and their merger with Wenger, they have come out with a new Delemont Collection of knives. Three-way portable power pack

Coghlan’s is introducing a new 6000 mAh power pack that can power up your phone or tablet anytime and anywhere.  Plugged into the wall, the unit will create and store 6000 mAh of power to recharge your phone multiple times. Out in the field, there’s a flip out solar power to keep the power reservoir topped up. In case of bad weather or during evening hours, there’s a hand dynamo crank that will create 10 minutes of talk time for each one minute of cranking.

Your own personal cabana

Kelty Cabana is the ideal answer when a little shade is needed – at the beach or at a soccer game.  Quick to put up – just slip the lightweight poles into the sleeves and stand it up.  The front floor panel offers the ability to provide privacy when needed by enclosing the entire front opening.  Over 40 square feet of floor space will provide plenty of space for multiple chairs or even the Kelty Loveseat.

GoPro goes minimalist

Everybody is going minimalist these days, including GoPro.  If you want the lightest case possible to mount your GoPro, consider the new Frame (ANDFR-301).  This mount is not water proof, but it does allow the best audio reception as well as access to all ports.   A glass protective lens is provided to protect the camera’s glass.

Serious about preparedness?

When your life is on the line, the last thing you want is a cheaply put together emergency pack. Solkoa Survival Systems has been preparing packs for all branches of the US military for years now and has just started creating individually available packs for retail. Buy individual components or groups of products depending on your camping, skiing, hiking, biking, etc. needs.  Be sure to check out their FastFire fire starters – pretty amazing.

A table with a view

No matter what activity you’re engaged in, 9 times out of 10, it’s handy to have a table nearby. Not only does the Alps Mountaineering Guide Table give you an ample 22” x 61” work surface, it is also adjustable in height from 30” to 42” tall.  The sturdy steel frame sets up quickly and comes with an easy to clean cover with windproof hook and loop fasteners to keep it in place.  Folded up, it slides into an 8” x 9” x 31” carry bag.

Put a lid on it

Want some shade while you are working at your table? Look no further than the Big Agnes Deep Creek Tarp. Available in spring 2015, this tarp is super flexible in the number of ways it can be deployed to provide instant shade or shelter.  Two 76” aluminum poles provide plenty of head height, while the other four corners can be attached to convenient trees, RV’s, fences or can be guyed down with the supplied stakes.  The Deep Creek Tarp will be available in three sizes – 48, 62 or 85 square feet.

Now let’s play

Once you’ve arrived, it’s time to play, and there’s nothing more fun than watching a kite take off for the heavens. The new EO Atom from Prism Kite Technology is an ideal candidate to keep in the trunk for those outings with the grandkids.  No assembly is required, merely unfold and attach your line (it comes with 200 feet.) Even if it lands, a simple tug on the string will relaunch it.  So easy, even a grown-up can fly it. Suitable for days with 5 to 18 mph winds.
