When my box arrived via UPS with myjacket, I was initially afraid that they had forgotten to put it in the box. It was honestly that lightweight. After opening the box and confirming that it was in fact there, I then began to wonder if it would really be heavy enough to actually keep me warm.
Didn’t take long to find out. The weather forecast wasn’t looking good for this week and freezing temperatures came in right as expected along with some snow squalls. Slipped into my jacket and went outside. Just as promised, this thing is warm and cozy!
Big Agnes Farnsworth
The Farnsworth is insulated with something called Pinneco Core, a synthetic insulation that is breathable and less bulky than most others. The shell is 100% recycled polyester and is wind-proof as well as water resistant.
The hood is pretty remarkable. With the drawstring, you can snug it up around your head in seconds and it’s held there with a couple push button clips. Stretch it out, and it’s actually big enough to go comfortably around my bike helmet. That was a surprise.
There’s a chest pocket for your cellphone just inside as well as two big mesh pockets inside for gloves, maps, whatever. Outside, there are two handwarmer pockets.
The real magic for me came when I was able to stuff the entire jacket into its chest pocket, zip it up and it becomes a travel pillow under 15 ounces. Genius.
Farnsworth comes in two color combinations – Cool Grey and Orange or Brilliant Blue and Slate Blue. Sizes range from extra small to XX large.
