PUMP AUDIO

Pump Audio
You want to listen to tunes while you exercise, but you don’t want to compromise your audio. It’s typically been a tradeoff until now.  After coming off a successful Kickstarter campaign, Pump Headphones are the new standard to meet or beat.  In fact, in a blind listening test, supposedly 74% of people preferred Pump to Beats Tours.

I’ve been using them for a few weeks now and I absolutely love the deep bass that these generate. They come with two sets of earbud cups for large or small ears.  Made from aluminum, they are light in weight and with the flat cable, there’s no more twisted cords.

There’s even an inline microphone that’s compatible with iOS, Android and Windows. Dump that Apple earphone and experience real sound quality. If you pay for your music, you deserve to hear it as it was originally recorded.

My only wish list for Pump version 2.0 would be the addition of a volume control on the cord. Pump headphones are available in both Orange and Black.  The Orange actually goes quite nicely with the Clementine Orange of my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro. They also don’t get lost in my backpack either.

PULSE ON

If you are serious about exercise, you know you need to monitor your heartrate.  Now, with the Pulse On Heart Rate Wrist Band, you can get good readings without the big, annoying chest strap. The Pulse On is small and slips on your wrist like a wristwatch.  The adjustable stretch band should fit all sized wrists.

PulseON

Recharging the internal battery is done with a small alligator style clip that attaches to a microUSB cable, so it can recharge from either your computer or a wall adapter.

Pulse On sensors

Connected via Bluetooth to your smart phone, you can get a whole range of readings measuring distance, speed, fitness level, calories burned, training intensity and more.  The software will even suggest daily workouts for your fitness goals, based on age, fitness level and desired results.

Weekend warriors no longer have to worry about training like a marathoner. A simple questionnaire in the app will determine how hard-core you are…or aren’t. Review your training results per event, weekly or monthly.

The free app is available for iOS 4S and newer and the Android app needs version 4.0 or better. With accessory straps, you can make the Pulse On blend in or stick out as you see fit. When not measuring your heart rate, you can also use the device to tell time.

SPINE EYEWEAR

If you’ve ever worn a pair of sunglasses that never seemed to fit right, you know the pain of constantly pushing them back up to the bridge of your nose.  It doesn’t take long before you are ready to toss them in the trash. Well, that’s one feeling you won’t have if you check out the new line of eyewear called SPINE.

SPINE eyewear

Sold through optical retailers, this new line has spring-loaded arms (temples) that hug your face, making them fit any shaped face or head size.  But don’t worry about the typical screws coming loose at the corners of your frames, as these are manufactured with patented micro injected metal hinges.  The other advantage is that the frame automatically closes when removed from your face.

Available as optical or sun glasses, check them out online or at your local optical dealer. Each come with a nice protective case and cleaning cloth. Next time you’re exercising and they don’t slide down, you’ll know you made the right decision.
