Just before my latest eight-state road trip, I picked up a Scottevest Pack Jacket that was the perfect companion for our latest sunny, windy, rainy, snowy weather. Yep, all in two days. 86 degrees in Kentucky on Tuesday and a blinding white-out in West Virginia on Thursday. Thanks Mother Nature.
While not meant as a winter jacket, the Pack Jacket is a perfect companion just in case. Perfectly breathable, you can wear it when it starts to warm, but also as a wind breaker when it cools – it can’t be beat. I was super happy I packed it for the trip.
It’s super-lightweight. At under 270 grams, the whole coat is lighter than my Nexus 7 tablet. It folds into itself for a fist-sized ball when you pack it away, or fold it flat and it takes up less space than a tee-shirt. While it’s folded, it can double as a travel pillow.
Water and stain repellant fabric means it’s going to keep looking good, no matter how many hot dog stands you stop at. Get too sloppy and you’ll be happy to hear that it’s machine washable.
Pockets galore:
Outside are two handwarmer pockets and two cellphone or MP3 player pockets (chest high). Each has a wire management slit so your earphones can be wired internally.
One of the handwarmer pockets comes with an extendable key holder so you’ll never lose your keys again.
Inside, there are two microfiber pockets – perfect for anything you want to keep scratchless.
On the inside back are two large pouch pockets for paperwork or other large flat maps, etc.
One either side, behind the microfiber pockets, are larger pockets suitable for tablets, readers or that bottle of ice tea. (Because of the jacket’s light weight, you’ll probably want to limit the tablets to the mini sized models.) Higher yet are two more pockets for glasses, pens and whatever is left.
I’ve been using the Scottevest Revolution jacket for almost two years now and love it, but with summer coming, this is my new go-to jacket. I can even carry it in my Revolution for when the days warm up. Now I really am “Scottevest ready” for all seasons. Check out their whole line at http://www.scottevest.com. I guarantee you’ll be happy you did.

DougBardwell.com awards their Senior Citizen’s Thumbs-Up rating for Scottevest Pack Jacket. With all the pockets, both inside and out, there’s a place for everything you need to carry when you travel. Comfortable enough to leave on inside and outside, you’ll never have to worry about laying down something and forgetting it.
