Check out these home monitoring, portable power, laptop enhancing, super-telephoto camera shooting, super-speed picture capturing, and fitness enhancing apps from the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show.
iSmart started just two years ago and already have built an impressive line of home security and monitoring products that couldn’t be easier to hookup. No complex wiring needed, they all work wirelessly and are monitored via an app on your phone. Z-Wave compatibility allows other manufacturers devices to interface seamlessly with the system. Look for a new software interface coming shortly as well as cloud storage of video clips recorded by your video monitor.
Looking for the world’s smallest, full function sensor for home security? Look no further than the Fibaro Motion Sensor. This golf ball-sized sensor mounts to your wall with one screw and monitors motion, light, sound, and temperature. ZWave technology makes it compatible with most system controllers. This was the award winner for CES Innovation this year.
j5Create makes all sorts of accessories that you wish came standard on your laptop, but don’t. Prominently displayed this year was their Boomerang unit, which weighs almost nothing, but acts as a stand for your laptop and gives it all those connections typically missing on today’s Ultrabooks. It adds ports for HDMI, VGA, microphone, speaker, multiple additional USB’s and more.
Kodak has a camera worth checking out. The Astro Zoom AZ651 is a digital camera with an incredible 24-1560 mm zoom lens which lists for an affordable $379. This compact but sturdy camera comes with a CMOS 20MP sensor. If you are looking for super-telephoto, you won’t find much else that compares.
Lexar’s newest speed demon of a MicroSD card is the 1000X USH-II – available in up to 128GB size. Comes with a special MicroReader to achieve an incredible read/write speed of 150MB/second. Ideal when trying to keep up with today’s 4K video cameras or when speed of editing is a necessity.
Ventev is coming out with what I forecast will be a category killer. The PowerCell 10,000 is a portable battery pack with a USB port, plus two pull out cords – one for Apples Lighting connector and one for micro USB. In addition, a 110v plug folds out to easily recharge the unit. Now, with one compact unit, you could recharge your iPhone, Android tablet and smartwatch simultaneously, and probably have some power left over when you’re done.
Determined to do something for your physical wellbeing this year…but aren’t ready to plunk out 100’s for a gym membership? Consider Fitnet – a free application that offers 200 5-minute videos which can be used independently or ganged together. Sticking with it? Those videos have online coaches that can take you to the next level. Try having a personal coach for 14 days for free before deciding to continue for just $19/month.
