Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology is the latest iteration of faster charging for your devices if they are equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. If so, you can expect up to 75% faster charge times.
How fast?
Not all results are quite that dramatic and Qualcomm lists these comparisons of phones all having 3300 mAh batteries:
- Charging a non-Qualcomm device for 30 minutes = 12% battery gain
- Charging a Quick Charge 1.0 device for 30 minutes = 30% battery gain
- Charging a Quick Charge 2.0 device for 30 minutes = 60% battery gain
As of this writing, the following phones are actively supporting the Quick Charge 2.0 technology: 1 from Google, 2 from Motorola, 4 from Sony, 3 from HTC and 2 from Samsung. Check here to see if your device will support the new Quick Charge technology
Both the Droid Turbo and the new Moto X by Motorola are looking like great options.
Getting a quick charger
To get results like these, you need to buy a Quick Charge 2.0 Certified charger. Here are a couple you might want to try:
Ventev Wallport
This single USB Ventev Wallport universal charger Q1200 is about an inch square and has folding 110v prongs that fold out from the back. It comes with a flat, non-tangling cord that will connect/sync any micro USB device.
Rated from 100-240 volts AC, that means you can use it here or worldwide without a convertor. It outputs 5, 9 or 12 volts DC at up to 2.1 amp. (15 watt).
This is perfect for any micro USB device – phone, tablet, GPS, camera or Bluetooth device.
Ventev Dashport
Another single USB universal charger – but this time, the Ventev Dashport Q1200 is made for your car’s dash. The small adapter is meant to fit in your car’s 12 volt cigarette lighter, providing 5, 9 or 12 volts DC at up to 2.1 amp. (15 watt), while using 10-18 volts DC.
It is also supplied with a flat, non-tangling cord that will connect/sync any micro USB device. An illuminated USB port will help you to locate the port in a dark car.
Ventev Tangle-Free cables
Both the wallport and the dashport products come with detachable flat cable which really is convenient to use. You can also buy these flat cords separately (the Ventev Chargesync tangle-free USB cables) and I’m thinking of replacing all my old nasty cables with these flat alternatives. They are available in 6”, 3.3’ and 6’ lengths – for microUSB, 30 pin and Lightning connectors. Many are available in a range of bright colors as well as grey.
