Burgers and beer just go together, and there’s no better place to make this match-up than The RAIL in Canton; (4347 Belden Village Mall Canton, OH 44718). We were invited there recently and had a blast – great food, cool atmosphere, comfortable seating, and fabulous drinks. Oh, and before we go any further – Chef Mike Mariola serves up some unbelievable appetizers and desserts.
The RAIL specializes in locally sourced beef, beers and produce so it’s no wonder everything tastes so fresh. Ohio has some great agricultural resources and The RAIL showcases them nicely.
For starters, you’ll have your choice of locally sourced craft beers from across the state. Whether you crave an IPA or a pale ale, their bartender will likely turn you on to a new brew you might not have tried before. Wine and specialty drinks are available as well. For a real treat, try the Diesel Fuel, a curiously cool combination of espresso, chocolate sauce and Patron cocoa liqueur with locally sourced vanilla ice cream.
For appetizers, we enjoyed the Gouda Mac n Cheese Bites as well as a couple different fries – especially the Main Street Stack.
For burgers, there are dozens to choose from, and whichever you choose, I can almost guarantee a winner. The Bootlegger was phenomenal and the Crouching Burger (Hidden Bacon) looked amazing. Every burger was cooked perfectly to the temperature requested by each of us. I love it when the chef pays attention to what you want.
For dessert, we almost died from delight devouring the Watershed Bourbon Pecan Pie a la mode. The old-school, hand-dipped milkshakes looked amazing as well. Had there been one spare inch of room in my stomach, I’d have tried one of those as well.
Check them out next time you are in Canton – or their other locations on Market Street in Fairlawn or in Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted. And, lucky for us, they are in the process of building one now in Strongsville in South Park Mall – hopefully opening this June or July. Can’t wait.
