Just tried the new Adonit Snap stylus, and with one exception, it works great. It’s a Bluetooth enabled stylus that works with my iPhone and takes very little room to carry. Beautifully built, it is a pleasure to hold and use.
Like most styluses I’ve tried, it has its strengths and weaknesses.
First, its strengths:
- It’s extremely slim and takes up little room in pocket or purse.
- The 1.9 mm point is fine enough that you can easily use it to select fine text while surfing standard webpages on your smartphone. No more “fat finger” erroneous selections.
- If you use Snapchat or other photo markup programs, you can do much better drawing with a stylus than you can with your finger.
- If you use Snapseed or other photo editing programs, again, your control of the edits to your photo can be much more precise.
- Bluetooth connectivity works extremely well and then acts as a remote shutter for your camera apps. Now you take that perfect selfie without need of a self-timer.
- A micro-USB cord recharges the Snap in one hour and should work for seven hours per charge.
On the downside:
It’s supposed to magnetically attach to the phone case. I don’t know about other smartphones, but it doesn’t hold on my iPhone 6. The magnet only catches about 2/3 down the backside, just barely grabbing the edge of the phone.
[Correction 10-26-16. If you look closely at the packaging, there is actually a tiny, self adhesive metal plate included that should be applied to the back of your phone or case that keeps the Snap in place.]
Luckily, it does have a metal case, so it actually works with my Caseco Duo Connect 360 case. That’s a protective case which uses a built-in metal mounting ring to attach the case to my dash mount in the car.
With that one exception, the Snap works better than any other stylus I’ve tried with my phone.
