Wear & Hear has affordable solutions for the hearing challenged
I recently had the opportunity to try out the BeHear ACCESS Personal TV Sound System from Wear & Hear. I had seen it demonstrated at the CES2021 show and was anxious to see exactly how well it worked in real-life situations.
Fortunately, it worked just as hoped.
Actually, it’s two products bundled together for cost savings, but either can be bought without the other, and there are reasons that might be just what you need.
BeHear ACCESS Enhanced Hearing Headset
The headset wraps around your neck, hanging on your chest with controls on both sides. It’s designed for people with mild-to-moderate hearing issues and is rechargeable for up to 12 hours of use. The earbuds come with a variety of rubber cup sizes so you’ll get just the right fit. The arms of the headset give you playback controls with volume up and down.
It’s basically a Bluetooth stereo headset at its core, but it’s much more than that. Thanks to their audio engineers, it offers:
- Assistive hearing with enhanced intelligibility of sounds in the speech spectrum
- Ability to listen to music or phone calls through your phone
- As a digital hearing aid for sounds of all types – inside and out.
You can even customize the settings on your phone so that the headphones work best for inside, outside, in a crowd, or at a concert. Pick your application as needed.
The phone app does a hearing test as part of the setup, so frequencies that give you a problem during testing, are automatically enhanced.
It couldn’t be easier to set up because there are videos to guide you every step of the way. The charger is a micro-USB type cradle and the headset just drops right in.
I tried them in a wooded area nearby, and wouldn’t have heard certain birds far off without them. MSRP $349.00
By itself, the HearLink PLUS is a TV audio and music transmitter. Connect a TV, a stereo system, or a computer, and HearLink beams out a wireless Bluetooth signal – supposedly up to 200 feet away. In my home, I never got more than 50 feet away, but it worked great that far.
I was surprised to see that not only does it handle an Aux-In input for audio, it also provides Optical-In for the best in audio fidelity if your system offers that. So, this can deliver every last bit of audio quality your music library contains.
Where this really shines is when you are moving around from room to room and don’t want to miss part of your program. No matter how far I wandered, I never lost the story line. MSRP $69.00.
BeHear ACCESS Personal TV Sound System
People can miss out on a lot of living if they have hearing problems. And often, one-half of a couple doesn’t share the same hearing loss as their partner. That can cause some uncomfortable situations when one person needs the volume of the TV all the way up and the other doesn’t.
This bundle solves that problem completely. The person with the BeHear Headset can set their listening level wherever they want, while the other person uses their standard TV remote to set a comfortable listening level for themselves. Want to turn it down completely, go ahead. The person with the headset will still be able to adjust their volume to their liking. MSRP $399.00
The best part – Wear & Hear offers a free 30-day trial on their products, so don’t take my word for it. Try it yourself. They also offer free shipping and a one-year warranty.
