This sleek-looking Kyvol AF600 smart air fryer has been gracing our kitchen counter for the past few weeks as  I had a chance to prepare this review.  From the simplest toast to tasty Buffalo Wings to reheating leftovers, this is handy kitchen addition.  With the viewing window in the ceramic cooking basket, you’ll no longer have to open the fryer to check on cooking progress.

Not only does the fryer have a dozen handy one-touch selector buttons, and a dial to easily adjust cooking times and temperature, it also connects with your phone via Wi-Fi, opening the possibilities for 100 pre-selected online menus. It can also remember your selection as a favorite and instantly repeat it.

The preset buttons allow one-touch selection of default temperature and default times for the following:

  1. Vegetable
  2. Chicken
  3. Beef
  4. Seafood
  5. Dessert
  6. French Chip (Fries)
  7. Defrost
  8. Toast
  9. Reheat
  10. Dehydrate
  11. Recipe (your favorite)
  12. Preheat

Adjustments can be made to the default times or temperature after selecting the program. Also, withdrawing the basket during cooking will pause the program. Reinserting the basket within 10 minutes will restart the program.

One of our favorite uses recently has been to “bake” potatoes in the air fryer.  We poke them a couple times with a fork, brush with a little olive oil and then sprinkle with Sea Salt.  Cook at 400 degrees and 30 minutes later, they are done.  The skins are crispy and delicious, and the insides are nice and soft.  So good.

The 6-quart cooking area is large enough for a small chicken or large roast.  There’s a crisper plate that fits on the bottom of the fryer basket that’s easily removable.  Both the ceramic fryer basket and the crisper plate are capable of being placed in the dishwasher. How’s that for convenience? (I did notice condensation on the inside of the window of the fryer basket after removing from the dishwasher, but it did dry up with no apparent ill effect.)

Another great feature is using the dehydrate function. We’ve been growing a lot of herbs recently in our Gardyn, and this is a great way to dry them.  In this case, the crisper plate can be installed above the loose leaves, keeping them from blowing out of the backet.
