I’ve only had the desk for less than a month now, but Wow, the Comhar Pro Q8 standing desk far exceeded my expectations.
Little did I realize there would be occasions when four user-programmed height settings would be necessary. I thought those were just for households or offices where multiple people would be using it, and they could each program their unique sit and stand heights.
Since I’m the only one using the desk, I’ve got four positions programmed; 24, 29, 36, and 40.
At 24”, it’s ideal for packaging or unpackaging large boxes, which I always get. No more bending down to the floor to unpack, or standing on my tiptoes to peer into a big box I’ve set on my desktop.
At 29”, it’s a perfect height to type on my desktop computer while sitting.
At 36”, it matches standard kitchen cabinets or my workbench in the garage. Comfortable to work on projects, but too low to type.
At 40”, that’s the sweet spot to continue typing while I stand – or working with a scanning project.
First rate packaging
I’d never had a standing desk before, but I’ve read the reports, and it was definitely something I’ve been considering. The downsides I recall people talking about were noisy and not very precise drive mechanisms, resulting in unhappy users.
So, when the desk arrived (in two separate cartons), I was immediately impressed with the weight of the two 75# packages. Both were packaged expertly, so everything was intact when I opened the boxes. I wish other manufacturers could take lessons from FlexiSpot on ensuring their products arrive without damage.
Assembly was a breeze
The assembly went super easy. All the connection points aligned perfectly, and none of the screws were missing. I had it together in under an hour while watching TV.
The desk can be set to any height from 24” to 49”, allowing children through the tallest adult to be comfortable while working – either standing or sitting easily.
It’s available in two finishes – white or black. Mine is white with a natural-colored bamboo top. The top has a lacquer coating that resists scratches, water, and insects. The top is 55” wide by 28” deep, making a really nice-sized workspace. Between the two legs, there is almost 48” of clear space – making plenty of room for under-desk cabinets, etc. (See the bottom of this article for my surprised usage.)
Let’s talk about the specifications of this piece of genius:
The control panel is intuitive enough with an LCD readout showing the current height, up and down buttons, four buttons for four user-settable heights, and two USB ports for charging your electronics. Showing how up-to-date this desk is, FlexiSpot provides the older, standard USB-A port and has one latest-style USB-C port.
In addition, on the front right corner of the desk, you’ll see a wireless charging symbol on the desktop. Your wireless device begins charging by merely placing your phone or tablet on the emblem.
With the possibility of having cords draped all over, going to and from the desktop, Flexispot thoughtfully provided a nice-sized cable management tray below the desktop.
A large, easy-to-open metal desk drawer pulls out from the front center of the desktop. The inside dimensions are 26” w x 12” d x 2” h. Plenty big enough for all your office essentials.
This has the absolutely sturdiest C-legs I’ve seen on a desk. The legs have wide bottom bases for stability, and the motorized tubes that slide inside one another to raise and lower the top are top-notch. Each tube houses a motor that is perfectly tuned to each other – providing smooth, quiet operation, time after time. Load capacity is rated at 220 pounds. Plenty strong enough to support my five biggest computers – and me!
Invisible to the eye, the desktop has a built-in collision system that senses an object below, preventing it from damaging anything underneath. You can even set the sensitivity before the desktop stops.
My surprise usage
I got both the standing desk and a weight-workout bench at the same time. I ordered the weight bench precisely because it could fold up compactly when not being used. I anticipated folding it and keeping it tucked far back under the desk between workout sessions.
To my surprise, even with its back raised, it slips nicely between the two sturdy white legs of the standup desk and doesn’t interfere with my feet while standing at the desk.
Another surprise came when I needed to lower the desk to use my standard office chair. The workout bench has a horizontal position; with it like that, I can still lower the desk to 29” and use my office chair with the bench underneath.

FlexiSpot has literally dozens of styles, sizes, and finishes available. They even have converters that can be placed atop regular desks or countertops to raise your working surface. I hope you enjoy working with your new Q8 Comhar desk as much as I’m enjoying mine. Who knows…it seems like the next purchase ought to be one the FlexiSpot Desk Bikes.
