Say hello to cool comfort or warm interiors with the WAVE 2
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I was notified about the EcoFlow WAVE 2. Three things jumped out at me right away.
1) There are lots of portable heaters out there, but a bonafide go-anywhere air conditioner? WTH!!!
2) This thing can run on battery power and also works with the large battery power packs I already own.
3) It comes with intake and exhaust flexible ductwork so that it actually exhausts the heat in the summer and exhausts the cold air in the winter.
I’ve never seen anything else do that, and I was dying to try it. It arrived in about a week, just in time for our first camping trip of the season.
Perfect for our conversion
We’ve had a 6 x 12 utility trailer for years, and we decided this year to retrofit it for camping. Our first trip was scheduled for the opening day of the 2024 season at Hocking Hills State Park. (Excellent for caves and waterfalls.)
I was concerned about the temperatures in Ohio in early April, because we were just as likely to get snow as we were to get a mild spring day. Turns out we got both in the course of three days.
The WAVE 2 seemed like the perfect solution, so I went about fitting it into the trailer as soon as it arrived.
With the included flexible ductwork, I started by creating an insulation panel of high-density foam and covered it with black Visqueen. Sliding open the window, I was able to install both ducts for intake and exhaust air.
The campground where we were camping had 110v power, so running it constantly would be no problem. I was amazed at how quiet this unit is. No problem sleeping with the unit running.
It performed beautifully, and we’re looking forward to getting many more trips in comfortable temperatures. We did realize the need for the awning to be out during rainy weather, since the insulation panel is on the inside of the window frame. I’m considering having a custom aluminum louvered panel to go on outside as a more permanent solution.
What’s in the box
Everything you need for powered operation comes in the box. The power cord comes with a overload breaker built into the power plug. You get two ducts – one for exhaust and one for intake. Three ductwork adapters allow the unit to be configured for any application from a tent to your living room. The window vent board is a foam panel that snuggly fits the two ducts. And then, you also get a flexible drain pipe for condensate water.
There’s even an app so you can control the temperature away from the unit.
Quick change of temperature
Within minutes you’ll be experiencing heat or cooling, Put your hands in front of the unit and you’ll immediately feel the difference.
Whatever power you have – it’ll use
For going anywhere and heating/cooling anything, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything else that tops the WAVE 2 from EcoFlow. It runs on whatever type of power you can provide.
With 12-volt power from your car, you can power it while you drive a car, van or RV.
With a battery pack, you can get hot or cool air at your picnic table in the middle of the park.
With 110v, you can run it all day and night.
With solar backup to your battery packs, you can extend your stay off the grid in comfort.
