Leave the Crowd: Keep the Comfort

If you recall my review of the Wave 2 from a year ago, I was amazed at how well it fit the bill for heating or cooling small spaces — from a tent to a van, a utility trailer, or any other small room. Now, EcoFlow has upgraded the specs, hardware, and performance with their new EcoFlow Wave 3.

Very similar in appearance, they’ve increased the cooling and heating capacity to 1,800 or 2,000 watts of power, respectively. All this while extending battery life with the additional battery to up to eight hours on Eco mode.

Two new functions enable the Wave 3 to automatically switch between heating and cooling in regions where temperatures fluctuate significantly throughout the day. Additionally, a dehumidifying cycle is available for areas with high moisture levels in the air.

Whenever you run an A/C, condensate drainage is always a possibility. The Wave 3 app alerts you and allows you to drain using the supplied hose and a one-button press on the control panel.

What’s in the box

You’ll get everything you need for multiple installation options: The Wave 3 unit, two flexible vent sections, three vent adapters that attach the vent pipes to the unit, a window template, condensate hose, power cord for 110v operation, instructions, and stickers for your windows (more about that later).

The addon battery is something you’ll definitely want to add to your order. In addition to maximizing the run time on battery, it also allows you to charge via your car’s 12V power. It also becomes a huge power bank for your phone, iPad, etc., with USB-C and USB-A ports.

If you will be installing the unit in a tent, you can simply intake fresh air from outside and exhaust air from inside by extending the two flex vents out through a zipper opening in your tent and snug the zipper around them.

But if you are installing the unit in a van, auto, or cabin, you’ll want to make a sturdier window seal. The cardboard template shows proper sizes for the openings and will adapt to any window opening larger than the two vent holes themselves. It would even work in my four-door sedan.

Speaking of vent ducts, they’ve also been upgraded with a foil lining and a highly flexible exterior, allowing you to shape them as needed.

Depending on your heating or cooling needs, you’ll want to install the intake and exhaust ductwork differently, but they are easy to swap out and come with three adapters to cover all contingencies.

If you are someone who travels with pets, you know the hazards of leaving a pet in a closed car on a hot day. Worry no more, if you use your Wave 3 to keep the car cool while it’s parked. With up to 8 hours of battery use, you can leave your pet(s) in the car knowing they’ll be comfortable. EcoFlow thoughtfully included a couple of stickers for your windows, so passersby will know that your pet is comfortable inside and won’t call for a rescue.

If you’ve ever spent a sleepless night camping due to the heat or cold, kiss those memories goodbye and upgrade your outdoor experience with the EcoFlow Wave 3.
MSRP for the Wave 3 is $1,299, and the Wave 3 extra battery is $899. However, from April 25 thru May 25, you can really save with Early Bird pricing: get the Wave 3 for $749 and the extra battery for $599. Buy them both together for $1,299. All prices USD.
