\nRenaissance Fulton Pittsburgh Hotel has announced a new Digital Detox package for those
\nwho are overly attached to their electronic devices.<\/p>\n

The package is perfect for people who have come to terms with the need to recharge
\nthemselves\u2014and not their devices\u2014for a night. It includes a one-night stay in a Deluxe King
\nRiverview room, breakfast for two and vouchers for relaxing activities such as kayaking or an in-
\nroom massage depending on the time of year. As one can assume from the name, the detox
\naspect includes the surrender of laptops, phones and other devices at check in as well as the
\nremoval of the TV and iPod dock station in the room. Instead, guests will be entertained by the
\naddition of literary classics, playing cards and board games. An instant camera rental with
\nlimited film is provided to capture the guest\u2019s device-free adventures throughout the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe spend more time attached to technology than ever before, and it\u2019s safe to say we all know
\nsomeone who could truly use a break from it all,\u201d said Craig Bollman, the Renaissance Hotel\u2019s
\ndirector of sales and marketing. \u201cThis experience can be eye-opening too, because it makes
\nour guests realize just how much valuable time they waste focusing on their devices instead of
\neach other.\u201d<\/p>\n

When guests are ready to check out, their devices (which have been securely stored), will be
\nreturned. The hotel is hoping that the experience will cause some guests to not rush to turn on
\ntheir phones, laptops and other electronics. \u201cThis has been an eye-opening experience for
\nsome of our guests who have already enjoyed the package,\u201d said Bollman. \u201cWhile being
\nunplugged created a bit of stress, the freedom of not feeling compelled to check email, texts and<\/p>\n

social media has enabled some guests to realize just how much they rely on technology rather
\nthan interacting with those around them and enjoying downtime, which is something we all
\nneed.\u201d<\/p>\n
