Lomi is a countertop compost pile<\/a> \u2013 albeit much prettier, and faster, and cleaner, and convenient, etc. etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While my wife and I will never create enough compost to fill our garden, it still feels good knowing we are sending out fewer garbage bags to the curb each month. Saving the environment starts one step at a time \u2013 right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what do we use it for? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  • Kitchen waste \u2013 leftovers, scraps, trimmings<\/li>
  • Garden waste \u2013 we\u2019ve got an indoor Gardyn that needs pruning weekly<\/li>
  • Plants and old flowers<\/li>
  • Coffee filter and coffee grounds \u2013 lots of coffee<\/li>
  • Tea bags and loose leaf tea<\/li>
  • Paper towels and paper napkins<\/li>
  • Plastic grocery store bags<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Sounds smelly \u2013 doesn\u2019t it?  Actually, there is never an odor.  On the back, there is a compartment that is filled with charcoal and that filter manages to capture any odor that might otherwise emanate. My wife has a powerful sniffer, and she\u2019s never noticed a thing, despite it being right next to the stovetop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
