Wandering the first floor, each room has its own distinct design, but every room is just as grand as the one before.\u00a0 The restaurant is also on the first floor and served a marvelous buffet of delicacies. The Potted Pork served in small white ramakins was to die for and they kept refreshing the supply as quickly as we devoured it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_slider et_pb_slider_fullwidth_off et_pb_gallery_post_type\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slides\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Ratmullan-House-8560.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Ratmullan-House-8549.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Ratmullan-House-8543.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Ratmullan-House-8539.jpg);\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Downstairs, they\u2019ve recreated a pub-like atmosphere that is truly inviting.\u00a0\u00a0 A great bar with local micro-brews has turned into a popular neighborhood attraction.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019ve come for a relaxing massage, for the 15 meter indoor pool, or for the two mile beach, you can let your cares drift away in this idyllic location.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_slider et_pb_slider_fullwidth_off et_pb_gallery_post_type\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slides\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/RathmullanHouse3.png);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/RathmullanHouse2.png);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/RathmullanHouse1.png);\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dunfanaghy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arnoldshotel.com\/\">Arnold\u2019s Hotel<\/a> started in 1922 and has grown to 30 rooms.\u00a0 The family has continuously managed the hotel since its inception and the fourth generation is now beginning to become involved.\u00a0 Situated across the street from the Killhoey beach (another Blue Flag Beach), the hotel has all sorts of recreational opportunities for guests. From surfing to cycling (e-bikes are available) to 18 holes of golf, it\u2019s all nearby. They even have their own stables. (<a href=\"http:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/2014\/08\/20\/five-little-gems-discover-nw-coast-ireland\/\">Read about riding on the beach and in the dunes<\/a>.) Lunch here was a wonderful meal with some of the best brown bread in all of Ireland.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_slider et_pb_slider_fullwidth_off et_pb_gallery_post_type\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slides\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Arnolds-1411.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Arnolds-1418.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Arnolds-1415.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Arnolds-1412.jpg);\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>Downings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosapenna.ie\/\">Rossapenna Hotel &amp; Golf Resort<\/a> is where we met up with <a href=\"http:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/2014\/08\/20\/five-little-gems-discover-nw-coast-ireland\/\">Grassroutes electric bikes<\/a> for our ride along Atlantic Drive.\u00a0 Beautifully set across from Sheephaven Bay, this is known for its golf courses.\u00a0 Didn\u2019t have the opportunity to play here, but according to their website:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cGolfers have been travelling to Rosapenna since the late 19th century when the Old Tom Morris links was ranked 3rd in the British Isles behind St.Andrews and Royal County Down. It was for this reason that great golfers of their time Harry Vardon, James Braid and Tom Ball holidayed in Rosapenna.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In 2003 Rosapenna Golf Resort opened it\u2019s second course the Sandy Hills links designed by Pat Ruddy of European Club fame. In its relatively short lifetime Sandy Hills has been met with rave reviews and steadily climbed the rankings as it matures into one of Ireland\u2019s finest modern links courses.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10689\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna-600x450.jpg?resize=600%2C450\" alt=\"rosapenna\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna.jpg?resize=600%2C450&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna.jpg?resize=150%2C112&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/rosapenna.jpg?w=1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hotel rooms were spacious and quite, quite comfortable. My room overlooked Sheephaven Bay and although it was low tide, with the window open, you could still hear the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore. \u00a0I especially liked the dark wooden vanity below the huge bowl sink in the restroom.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_slider et_pb_slider_fullwidth_off et_pb_gallery_post_type\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slides\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Rosapenna-1504.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Rosapenna-1508.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Rosapenna-1510.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Rosapenna-1503.jpg);\"><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_slide\" style=\"background: url(https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Rosapenna-1505.jpg);\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>The Varden Restaurant is where you\u2019ll dine and the food was wonderful.
