When you decide to head out for a quick weekend of car camping, loading up usually means grabbing four different bags, searching for missing tent poles, and wondering if you have room for chairs. The Core Equipment 4 Piece Camp Combo<\/a><\/strong> changes that whole process by putting a 4-person instant cabin tent, two padded camp chairs, and a folding side table<\/strong> into one single carrying case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire package weighs 36 lbs (16.3 kg)<\/strong> and packs down to 39 in x 13 in x 11 in<\/strong>. That makes it easy to slide into your trunk or tailgate, though at nearly 40 pounds, you will want to keep it strictly for car camping rather than hauling it down a trail. A Carrying Case That Actually Works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first impression of this setup came when I loaded the main carrying case into my van. Core gives you a heavy-duty zippered bag<\/strong> with three thick webbing handles<\/strong> stitched across the top. Having three handles makes a huge difference when you need to lift a 36-pound bag out of a deep car trunk or truck bed without straining your back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most outdoor gear bundles give you a storage bag that is barely big enough for the factory-folded equipment. Once you unpack a tent, you usually have to fight to get it rolled tight enough to zipper it back up. After I pitched this tent and took it down, everything fit easily back into the case with no strain on the zipper<\/strong>. You will not have to waste twenty minutes fighting your storage bag at the end of a trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pitching It Solo: Clearing Up the Setup Myth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you read the instruction sheet or check online owner feedback, you will see people saying that pitching this tent requires two adults. As a senior citizen camping on my own, I found that completely untrue. I set up the entire tent by myself on my very first try<\/strong>, and it went up surprisingly fast.  Next time will probably be half the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
