Knog<\/a> is an Australian company with a knack for design \u2013 they\u2019ve won 37 international design awards \u2013 and they\u2019ve come up with another winner that iPhone photographers are going to love.<\/p>\n

The light Apple wishes they thought up, [expose<\/a>] is a 130 lumen output auxiliary flash and video light that will fit iPhone 4, 5 or 6.\u00a0 Only slightly wider than a quarter, this little light is a powerhouse. Use the light in multiple ways \u2013 as a flash, as an attached video light or as a standalone light source.<\/p>\n

In the box are adapters that will fit the [expose] light into each of the last three generations of iPhones. There is also an app you can download for free from the iTunes App Store that offers complete functionality with the [expose] light.\u00a0 Set it to flash for stills, or to stay on constantly for video.<\/p>\n

You can also regulate the intensity of the 9 mini LED\u2019s to suit your needs with the app as well as controlling the white balance.\u00a0 The actual color temperature of the light is 3950K, so that\u2019s somewhere between a standard warm incandescent bulb and daylight. It\u2019s a good compromise in mixed lighting situations.\u00a0It will definitely outpower the whimpy flash that’s on your phone.<\/p>\n

You can also use it independently with other cameras \u2013 something I\u2019ve been doing quite a lot recently. Detached from your iPhone, simply hold down the black button for one second and the light will come on, just like a flashlight.\u00a0 Then, each subsequent press reduces the level of the light so that you have high, medium and low levels available. The rechargeable LiPo battery will give you 70 minutes of light on low and 20 minutes on high. Recharging a completely spent light takes 2-1\/2 hours.<\/p>\n

Holding the light at arm\u2019s length while taking a photo, you can have shadows off to either side or holding it high above you, you can cause the shadows to disappear behind your subject. Small enough, you can now carry a light with you at all times.<\/p>\n
