That\u2019s where your smartphone comes in \u2013 it becomes the viewfinder \u2013 genius. Got a case on your camera? NO problem, extend them just a little wider. Upgraded your phone? The grippers will automatically adjust to the width of your new device. Sweet. The app gives you all sorts of options for shooting \u00a0burst shots, facial recognition and HDR.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Connect to the network<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The PixPro SL25 actually creates a low power wireless network so you can be anywhere, even the middle of the ocean and still connect to your Wi-Fi enabled phone.\u00a0 Just go to your Wi-Fi settings on your phone and select the Kodak PixPro network while using the camera. (Android users can simply use NFC enabled devices to connect.)<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Frame your shot and shoot<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Once the two are paired, you\u2019ll see what the camera sees on your phone\u2019s screen.\u00a0 Simply frame your shot and shoot. Use your phone\u2019s screen to trip the shutter or use the shutter button on the SL25. \u00a0You can also zoom either using the controls on the SL25 or on your screen. Standard telephoto rules still apply and you\u2019ll want to steady your shots the best you can when taking super telephoto images.\u00a0 There is a \u00bc\u201dx20 tripod hole on the bottom of the unit so if you have a lightweight tripod, you are all set. That means you could put the SL25 on a mini tripod on a shelf or fireplace mantel during a party, and remotely frame and shoot your pictures from across the room. It would be the ultimate selfie. It should work up to 10 meters (32 feet) away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13086\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991-600x473.jpg?resize=600%2C473\" alt=\"Kodak PixPro SL25 on tripod\" width=\"600\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991.jpg?resize=600%2C473&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991.jpg?resize=150%2C118&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991.jpg?resize=300%2C236&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SL25-6991.jpg?w=1624&amp;ssl=1 1624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Spec talk<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As unique and novel as this concept is, it\u2019s not worth a dime if the pictures aren\u2019t good; but, that\u2019s not an issue with the PixPro SL25.\u00a0 Shooting a 16MP image, this will match the quality of most any DSLR camera.\u00a0 You can also shoot full 1080p video as well.<\/p>\n<p>The lens of the SL25 is a 4.3mm-107.5mm zoom, \u00a0meaning you get the 35mm equivalent of 24mm wide angle as its widest and the crazy equivalent of a 600mm at its telephoto best. That\u2019s huge.<\/p>\n<p>The lens aperture ranges from f3.7 at wide angle to f6.2 at telephoto length.\u00a0 That\u2019s on par with most zoom lenses on the market, but you\u2019ll want to consider flash at dimly lit parties, etc. There is built-in optical image stabilization, which helps, but that won\u2019t stop blurring from a quick moving subject in dim light.<\/p>\n<p>Expect 210 shots from the rechargeable Li-Ion battery.\u00a0 Recharge easily with any micro USB cable.\u00a0 I used a portable battery pack in my camera bag and the unit was always ready to go.
