You know it right away. You press the shutter and nothing happens. Your card is busy writing those last shots and you can\u2019t take another until it clears its memory. I just recently switched to a <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2eQTKdU\">Nikon D500<\/a>, and couldn\u2019t wait to try out the XQD card. There\u2019s no turning back for me now.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately the same width and height as an SD card, the XQD format is much thicker.\u00a0 It\u2019s also much sturdier in my opinion, and for a working professional, much less subject to accidental damage \u2013 which is a huge benefit. It provides protection against water, vibration, shock and temperature. Whether you are shooting 4K video or 36-megapixel images, you know you are creating very large files for each shot, and that takes time to write to your card.
