{"id":26013,"date":"2017-03-13T16:23:29","date_gmt":"2017-03-13T20:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/?p=26013"},"modified":"2017-10-15T10:08:39","modified_gmt":"2017-10-15T14:08:39","slug":"quick-getaways-in-maryland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/quick-getaways-in-maryland\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick getaways in Maryland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A trip to the nation\u2019s capital is something everyone should do, but get stuck in gridlock on the beltway for an hour or two, and you\u2019ll be looking for an escape. <b>A weekend getaway to Eastern Maryland<\/b> is in order.<\/p>\n<p>Head east from Washington, DC \u2013 follow Route 50 \u2013 drive for less than 90 minutes and you\u2019ve escaped to the <b>Chesapeake Heritage Area<\/b>.\u00a0 If eastern seaboard history is your interest, you\u2019ve landed in Nirvana.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Top things to do in Maryland<\/h1>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The <b>eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay<\/b> is alive with history, not to mention my favorite seafood \u2013 crabs. The three counties surrounding Route 50 (Kent County to the north, Queen Anne\u2019s County in the center and Talbot County to the south) are home to a half-dozen driving tours, any of which would
