Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad<\/strong><\/h1>\n

When I think of relaxed travel, nothing says it like train travel \u2013 and if you have an opportunity to experience the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad<\/a>, you won\u2019t be disappointed. Starting at the Wappocomo Station, just outside Romney, WV, we boarded the Club car for their daily 1:00 pm Trough Trip.\u00a0 The \u201ctrough\u201d parallels the Potomac River through a wonderfully scenic, green gorge – along what\u2019s known as the South Branch.<\/p>\n

The train trip is narrated as it passes many historical places; but, if you want to hear the history, I\u2019d suggest sitting near the narrator. The sound system could be clearer at the far end of the cars.<\/p>\n

We were lucky enough, however, to ride in a car with Rob Wolford, a local historian, who could explain the entirety of the period from the French\/Indian war through the Civil War.<\/p>\n
