Get out on the water<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Many of Annapolis\u2019 sites can be best appreciated from the water, so a boat tour is certainly in order if you have the time. An ideal way to spend a morning or afternoon is to self-captain yourself and your tribe around the Annapolis Harbor, the Spa Creek and\/or the Back Creek.\u00a0 Check out Annapolis Electric Boat Rentals<\/a> for easy to pilot Duffy electric boats.<\/p>\n

Booking reservations are recommended and can be done online<\/a>. The 22-foot boats will comfortably accommodate up to 10 people on nicely padded seats. Food and adult beverages can be brought on board, but the captain may not drink alcohol while piloting the craft.<\/p>\n

The boats are all covered with a canvas roof and plastic panels for windows, so you can sail rain or shine.\u00a0 We went out on the bay during late March while the temperatures were low and were quite comfortable inside.<\/p>\n

The boats aren\u2019t your typical speedboat, so you\u2019ll be quite happy if you\u2019re looking for a leisurely, quiet ride on the beautiful waterways around Annapolis. Maps are provided for the most likely places you’ll want to explore.<\/p>\n

Maritime history<\/h2>\n

To really appreciate Annapolis, it helps to understand how it got started.<\/p>\n

Annapolis Maritime Museum<\/p><\/div>\n

Annapolis\u2019 history as an oystering town is portrayed at the Annapolis Maritime Museum<\/a> (723 Second Street.)\u00a0 The museum is actually in a historic oyster-packing plant \u2013 the last of its kind. A collection of boats and oyster tools and memorabilia explain the importance of this bivalve in the development of the city. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. Admission is free.<\/p>\n

April 28, 2018, from 3-5 pm, enjoy Earth Day by the Bay at the Back Creek Nature Park \u2013 a family friendly event with music by Guava Jelly.\u00a0\u00a0 Enjoy kayak rides, relays, music, delicious \u201cdirt\u201d and more.\u00a0 Starting in June there will be weekly concerts.
