If you travel, and hate to leave behind the option to grind, brew, and reheat your favorite coffee \u2013 or maybe you love to start the day with a custom blended smoothie \u2013 would you be interested to know of one machine you could bring along that would do all that \u2013 even if you are traveling off the grid with no electricity?\u00a0 Sure you would.\u00a0 Meet the Cauldryn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Cauldryn<\/p>\n

Getting to know the Cauldryn components:<\/h2>\n

1 Lid for the Cauldryn \u2013 slides open to sip.<\/p>\n

2 The main stainless steel chamber of the mug<\/p>\n

3 Temperature control unit \u2013 forms the bottom of the mug<\/p>\n

4 Standard sized battery \u2013 powers the mug away from electricity<\/p>\n

5 AC base \u2013 takes the place of the battery when at the office or home, comes with 110v cord<\/p>\n

6 Blender\/grinder base \u2013 takes the place of #3, when grinding or blending<\/p>\n

Optional components that can be purchased separately:<\/h2>\n

7 Percolator basket and paper filters<\/p>\n

8 Larger battery base with USB charging port<\/p>\n

9 Vehicle base with 12v cord and plug for car\/boat\/RV.<\/p>\n

The Cauldryn can be configured as a travel mug by selecting parts 1,2 and 3. \u00a0You won\u2019t be able to reheat or maintain temperature that way \u2013 but it\u2019s the smallest way to transport your drink.\u00a0 It also won\u2019t fit most standard drink holder slots in your car, you\u2019ll probably need to add the optional #9 base to fit standard drink holder slots.<\/p>\n

\"Car<\/p>\n

To heat or reheat your beverage, or to boil water, just add the battery base #4 or the oprtional larger base #8.\u00a0\u00a0 The #4 standard battery has enough stored power to keep your drink at a comfortable 136 degrees for up to 10 hours. If you work outside \u2013 you\u2019re going to love this feature.\u00a0 No more cold drinks after an hour in the frigid temperatures in winter.<\/p>\n

You can actually maintain any temperature between 124 and 212 and see exactly what it is on the LED readout on the temperature control base #3.\u00a0 There’s also an app for that.\u00a0 Controlled by Bluetooth, you can handle the heating or reheating options right from your smartphone.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The standard base #4 will also boil water to 212 degrees one time on a single charge, so you could make hot cocoa, etc. while on the jobsite or campsite. Best to boil the water at home using the AC base and save your battery to maintain the temperature if you plan to enjoy it over a period of hours.<\/p>\n

The optional battery #8 could also be used and it will boil two units on a single charge. While the mug will hold 16 ounces, the instructions suggest not trying to boil more than eight ounces at a time.<\/p>\n

If you are into grinding your own coffee, you can do it with the blender\/grinder base #6.\u00a0 Simply unscrew the temperature control base #3 off the bottom of the mug #2 and screw on the grinder base #6.\u00a0 Add your beans, invert the unit to start, start by pushing the start button and slowly bring it back upright.\u00a0 Shake every so often.\u00a0 If it binds from too many beans, there\u2019s an overload prevention circuit that will shut it off for a minute. Plug it in to reset it.<\/p>\n

If you are making a smoothie, don\u2019t fill it with more than 40% ice cubes.\u00a0 If you are grinding fruits or vegetables, they recommend not filling it more than 60% full.\u00a0 Adding some water will help.<\/p>\n

Once your coffee beans are ground, you can replace the grinder base #6 with the temperature base #3.\u00a0 Add no more than 12 ounces of water and place the percolator basket with your coffee grounds into the liquid.\u00a0 Screw on the top #1 and leave the sliding gate open for steam to escape. Set the temperature to 205 degrees or higher to percolate.\u00a0 If you need your coffee stronger, boil a second time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The base set of all items #1 through #6<\/a> is currently $149.00 through the manufacturer\u2019s website. I\u2019d suggest adding the Vehicle Adapter Base #9 for $9.99 if you plan to travel with it. If you are a barista wannabee, be sure to add the percolator base for $14.99.\u00a0 And if you are going off the grid and want that extra power, spring for the Extra Large Spare battery with USB charger #8 for $89.99.\u00a0 All options can be ordered here.<\/a><\/p>\n
