Upon inspection, I discovered I\u2019ve got 13 attached just between my wife and me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After getting tired of so-so Wi-Fi speeds, I began looking around for more modern, faster alternatives. Fortunately, at CES 2021 I discovered the <a href=\"https:\/\/us.dlink.com\/en\/products\/dir-lx1870-ax1800-high-performance-scalable-mesh-wi-fi-6-router-modern-sleek-design-white\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">D-Link AX1800 router\/extender<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210217-P900-0422-1024-900x675.jpg?resize=900%2C675\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34448\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>About seven inches tall and four inches square, it\u2019s a nice, lo-luster white with only a non-annoying white indicator light.&nbsp; No protruding antenna, so you could probably place this anywhere in your home or office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BLAZING FAST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With crazy speeds like 574Mbps for 2.4 GHz and 1201Mbps for 5GHz, you\u2019ll be waiting no more.&nbsp; And, you can enjoy dual-band Wi-Fi with up to 4 simultaneous streams going on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four Gigabit ports are built-in, so for devices that don\u2019t need, or can\u2019t use wireless connections, you are covered with these four additional ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"675\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210217-P900-0424-1024-1-675x900.jpg?resize=675%2C900\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34451\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210217-P900-0424-1024-1-675x900.jpg 675w, http:\/\/dougbardwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210217-P900-0424-1024-1-480x640.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 675px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I can now use my computer way out on my back deck, where I rarely could get a signal before. Now I\u2019m getting a steady 70 Mbps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCALABLE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you add on that huge family room or your office expands, the AX1800 will grow with you.&nbsp; You can pair the AX1800 router with another compatible D-Link AX router or D-Link AX Wi-Fi mesh-enabled range extender. You can have up to four devices interconnected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EASY TO INSTALL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the D-Link app on my phone, I had the AX up and running in just minutes.&nbsp; I already had a sixteen-port switch setup on my equipment rack, so it was just a matter of plugging it in and finding the proper wireless network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Big surprise\u2026I can now use my 5GHz network through my entire house.&nbsp; Before this addition, I could only use it in my office, right next to the router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"642\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210217-P900-0426-1024-900x642.jpg?resize=900%2C642\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34450\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-infobox advgb-infobox-wrapper has-text-align-center advgb-infobox-a8efda37-5e7d-465f-ad19-f6e789f1a502\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-wrap\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-container\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-inner-container\"><i class=\"material-icons-outlined\">chat_bubble_outline<\/i><\/div><\/div><div class=\"advgb-infobox-textcontent\"><h3 class=\"advgb-infobox-title\">Read on if you want a router<\/h3><p class=\"advgb-infobox-text\"><strong><em>I\u2019m using this as a range extender, as I already have a router from my service provider, but if you are going to use this as a router, you\u2019ll have lots more capabilities.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SMART CONNECT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you gotten frustrated needing to pick different network names for each of your devices?
