Trax has four lines which interconnect and span across a good swath of the city. The cars are clean, bright, and well-maintained.\u00a0 Boarding at the airport, we had the choice of getting off at either our hotel or the convention center \u2013 the Green Line stopped at both.<\/p>\n<p>If you are traveling around the city center, Trax is free.\u00a0 Jump on and off as often as you like and there\u2019s no ticketing required.\u00a0 Just about all the major downtown area venues have their own stops, so you won\u2019t have to walk far after leaving the trains. If you go farther than the \u201cfree fare zone,\u201d you\u2019ll need to buy a ticket before entering the train.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket machines are available on each boarding platform.\u00a0 Some take credit cards while others take cash only. Couldn\u2019t see any logic as to why credit cards aren\u2019t available everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Fares are $2.50 for 2-1\/2 hours of riding and $1.25 for seniors and disabled.\u00a0 All cars are handicap accessible. You can buy a full day pass for $6.25.<\/p>\n<p>Bikes can also be wheeled right into the Trax cars, so you can bike to the stop and then on to your destination after you get to your intended stop. There aren\u2019t any racks for your bikes, so most people stand with them in designated areas.<\/p>\n<p>Head just about anywhere and Trax will take you \u2013 to the zoo, the airport, the convention center, two shopping malls, the basketball arena, the University of Utah, the Heritage Center\u2026you name it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6157\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Salt-Lake-City-8153.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6157\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6157\" alt=\"City Creek Center\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Salt-Lake-City-8153.jpg?resize=600%2C450\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Salt-Lake-City-8153.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Salt-Lake-City-8153.jpg?resize=150%2C112&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dougbardwell.com\/db\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Salt-Lake-City-8153.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6157\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">City Creek Center is a combination of open air and enclosed mall with a retractable roof.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Walking is also a pleasure in Salt Lake City. Streets and sidewalks are amazingly clean. If you are walking across the downtown area, try cutting through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shopcitycreekcenter.com\/\">City Creek Center<\/a> \u2013 the large downtown covered and open-air mall area. It gives you the opportunity to a) find shade, b) listen to the babbling brook and numerous water fountains, and c) window shop along your way. Be forewarned however, the mall is closed on Sunday \u2013 so you can\u2019t wander through the enclosed portion then.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on getting around Salt Lake City, stop into either of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitsaltlake.com\/trip-planner\/visitors-center\/\">visitor information centers<\/a> downtown.
