One of the best ways to cope with the winter vortex is to pull out photos of last year\u2019s summer getaways and to start planning for another one this year. I just pulled out some from a getaway weekend to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and wanted to share some of the places we really enjoyed.<\/p>\n

We stayed at the historic and beautiful Boardwalk Plaza Hotel right on the beach. Open 365 days a year, this place is a classic. You\u2019ll appreciate its Victorian charm the instant you enter the reception area. They offer a range of rooms to fit most budgets and the staff is super friendly and attentive.<\/p>\n

Victoria\u2019s is their in-house restaurant that offers a nice selection of meals right alongside the boardwalk.\u00a0 Room service is also available.<\/p>\n

The hotel is right around the corner from the town square where there is always something going on in the Bandstand. A local music group performed while we were there and drew a huge crowd of beach-goers. While on the boardwalk, be sure to buy a big bucket of Bricker\u2019s fries \u2013 greasy but great.<\/p>\n

\"Rehoboth--4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Want a slightly better-for-you snack \u2013 try a breakfast bagel sandwich from Kay\u2019s Kitchen, off Rehoboth Avenue just north on 1st<\/sup> Street. I was there every morning. Delicious.<\/p>\n

If you are looking for Starbucks, be prepared to walk. It\u2019s way down Rehoboth Avenue at Lake Avenue (about four long blocks from the ocean.)<\/p>\n

If you are heading that way, you might want to rent a bike.\u00a0 I got one for a very reasonable price from Atlantic Cycles Bike Rentals at the corner of the boardwalk and Virginia Avenue. They\u2019ve got a great selection of beach cruisers, hybrids, kid\u2019s bikes, tandems and surreys.<\/p>\n

\"Rehoboth--6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From there, it\u2019s an easy ride north to Cape Henelopen State Park and Gordon\u2019s Pond. Take the boardwalk south and drive all the way to the end, hang a right and you\u2019ll end up at Silver Lake.<\/p>\n

TIP: First thing when you arrive in town, pick up a copy of the Rehoboth Beach Main Street\u2019s Official Guide to Rehoboth Beach.\u00a0 <\/i>You\u2019ll find the back is loaded with coupon\u2019s you can actually use \u2013 not the typical tourist trap trash.
