There’s a bill waiting for approval in the Senate, and you can help make it happen.

One of the persistent problems faced by those recovering from being trafficked, is usually a complex web of damaged credit ratings and lack of good financial experiences. For someone trying to rebuild their lives, this can be devastating.

Fortunately for them, the House of Representatives has already passed legislation and sent it to the Senate.

Known as the Debt Bondage Repair Act of 2021 (S.2040). This bill prohibits a consumer reporting agency from reporting adverse credit information about a consumer that is the result of severe human trafficking. This common-sense solution helps survivors regain their livelihood and get a fresh start in life.

We encourage you to join in the action alert created by our friends at the Sisters of the Good Shepherd National Advocacy Center to contact your Senators and ask them to co-sponsor and support this bill.

It’s so simple to send a letter by clicking on that “contact your Senator” link right above. They’ve even written the letter for you, but you can change it as well if you like. Merely click that link, fill in your address, and it will identify and address a letter encouraging your two senators to vote to pass the legislation. It’ll look something like this:

Just a minute or two of your time and it may make all the difference in someone’s life. That’s an investment I’ll take every time.
