Some trafficking victims may be suspicious of calling local law enforcement, for fear they may have connections to the very people holding them captive.

A safe bet, in that case, would be to call the national reporting hotline instead.  Less likely to have ties to local courts and local police, calling the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (24/7) will put you in contact with FBI Specialists who can advise you of options and assure that your report stays confidential until you can be rescued.  It’s an easy number to remember:
