Until this month,  trafficked children were required to testify in court against their perpetrators in certain states.  Finally, New York State struck down their requirement this week, making it the last of the states where the process was still required.  Last month, Alabama also struck down its requirement.

That makes all 50 states now in compliance with the worldwide Palermo Protocol sponsored by the United Nations.

For the estimated 100,000 – 300,000 children being trafficked in the US, this is welcome news.
