The best way to celebrate annual World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Given the ongoing war in Ukraine which continues to put millions of refugees at risk of human trafficking, A21’s free online event on July 30th for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons may be of interest.
This year, global anti-human trafficking nonprofit A21 will host a free, virtual one-day Global Broadcast, designed specifically to educate people – particularly young women and at-risk communities – about the realities of human trafficking, and how to identify human trafficking victims and make an effective report. With the global Ukraine crisis heightening trafficking vulnerabilities for millions of people, this training is more critical than ever.
Forced labor trafficking accounted for 48% of A21’s caseload in 2021, with millions more refugees at risk this year. While anyone can be a victim of exploitation, traffickers are known to prey on those coming from another country, or a crisis situation. Traffickers may trick refugees into dangerous situations, like forced labor or sexual exploitation, through deception, threats, or violence.
By tuning in to A21’s Global Broadcast on July 30th, you will access potentially life-saving resources and training sessions. Global experts and officials will teach viewers how to identify and respond to instances of human trafficking, and the broadcast will feature a narrative film about a labor trafficking survivor from Ukraine. This one-hour virtual broadcast will be available to stream at midnight eastern time on July 30th at A21.org/broadcast and will include training sessions from Staca Shehan, a vice president at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and Charlie Blythe, the European Regional Director at A21.
Viewers will come away knowing how to take practical action against human trafficking in their own spheres of influence. They’ll also be equipped to become advocates against modern-day slavery in their communities, and join or lead a local effort with A21’s opportunities and resources, such as our global Walk For Freedom event on October 15th.
Register here for the virtual global broadcast on July 30th.
