Thanks to reporting by Jessica Contrera<\/a> from the Washington Post<\/a>, I just read this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly every year for the past decade, a prominent anti-trafficking organization has handed out a \u201creport card\u201d on the United States, assigning each state a grade on its\u00a0laws to protect victims of child sex trafficking<\/a>. The goal: Motivate legislators who do not want bad grades to pass bills that ensure children sold for sex are not treated as criminals but as victims in need of services. With each new report, more laws were passed. States watched their \u201cgrades\u201d improve from D\u2019s and C\u2019s to A\u2019s and B\u2019s.<\/p>

<\/p>

But this November, when Shared Hope International convened in Washington to release its\u00a0new round of grades<\/a>, it announced that the rubric it had been using to score each state had changed. Rather than focus on the basic laws needed to protect victims, the report delved into the nuanced issues of prevention, training, victim identification, law enforcement strategy and more.<\/p>

<\/p>
