When the weather turns nasty, the last thing a person wants is a pair of cold, wet feet.  Freezing cold rain on my hands or head is unpleasant, but having wet, freezing feet is a reason to cancel all activities. Muck Boots must be on the same page, as they’ve come out with a boot that will tame the winter weather and keep your feet protected.

Muck Peak Hardcore boots

With a minus 40 degree rating, these Peak Hardcore waterproof boots are going to keep your feet comfortable. The exterior of the boot is made of Spandura, which they refer to as a full grain crazy horse leather (whatever that is) – but bottom line, it’s waterproof all the way up to the top of the tongue. Inside the boot, you’re walking on 6mm of cushiony neoprene insulation with a fleece lining.

When it comes to walking or hiking, the outsole has good-sized nubs for aggressive grip and traction on any surface. While hiking on the breakwall of Lake Erie, I felt very surefooted.  The high sides also provide great support and protection when walking through fields of briars or prickers.  It would be an ideal choice for hiking, ice fishing,  trekking, rock hopping, or any other reason to be outside this winter.
