We headed south a week ago, following the Ohio River, stopping to check out two of Belterra’s beautiful locations. Cincinnati, Ohio is home to Belterra Park Gaming – a combination thoroughbred race track and casino. In Florence, Indiana, we spent a few days at their recently remodeled Belterra Casino Resort. Belterra Casino Resort

Belterra Casino Resort appeals to all ages

Technically, the casino is actually a riverboat, but it’s moored permanently at 777 Belterra Drive, in Florence, Indiana. Attached to the resort, you never need to go outside; but you will want to.  The resort is surrounded by a lovely golf course.

For gaming, the casino is open 24/7 with progressive payouts, a high-limits room, a non-smoking room, and the chance to accumulate points with their “mychoice” players card.  You’ll definitely want to get a card, as the points accumulate quickly and they offer some dynamite rewards. If it’s table games you crave, you’ll find Craps, Blackjack and Roulette among others.

For eating, there’s no reason to leave.  The resort offers a wide range of choices for both palette and budget.  From 19 Steak and Seafood’s ultimate steak menu to Nosh, the delicious, made-fresh-daily bakery bar and coffee shop, you’ve just scratched the surface. The huge Stadium sports bar features local memorabilia along with enough HDTV’s to cover every game and 50 top beers to enjoy. But then, if you have trouble choosing, you could always try the Buffet.  Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner selections, you’ll find a great array of hot entrees, healthy salads, brick oven pizzas and on Friday and Saturday nights, all-you-can-eat crab legs. Hint: they do an awesome job with omelets for breakfast.  You’ll also find snack bars in the casino’s lower level and next to the pro shop on the golf course.

For sleeping, well it’s not what you come to a resort for, but everybody’s got to sleep sometime.  The hotel offers double queens, kings and suites.  Each room is spacious and generously appointed.  The bed is like sleeping on the perfect cloud.

For golf, it’s hard to beat a Tom Fazio designed golf course, and Belterra’s course was named one of the top 21 casino golf courses in the nation.  With exciting holes up to 543 yards in length, this par 71 course will captivate golfers of any ability.

For entertainment, check the events calendar for the latest acts booked in the 1,500-seat Center Stage Showroom. This large space offers close-up seating so every seat is a great seat for music or comedy.

For pure relaxation, wander up to the Beleza Spa and Salon on the second floor. Try one of their eight massage therapies, six body treatments or nine facials. As a guy, I’ve got to admit, their 50-minute Luxe Gentlemen’s Facial and 50-minute Luxe European Massage were something like I’ve never experienced before. If there is such a thing as perfect relaxation, this was as close as I’ve ever come. My wife tried the Hot Stone Massage and a facial, enjoying it just as much as I.
