Ever wanted a stronger cell signal, or maybe just any cellphone signal at all?  We’ve probably all been in those situations where the signal just wasn’t strong enough to make or to sustain a decent cellphone call.  Now, there’s something you can do to boost the available signal – up to 32x its initial strength.

We have Verizon as our provider and are usually happy with their strength 90% of the time.  Driving south on I-71 and east on I-90, there are those spots where call drops do happen, so I was anxious to try out the new Drive Sleek cellphone signal booster we were just provided by weBoost.

The Drive Sleek is actually compatible with all US cellular networks including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Straight Talk and more.

First, the Drive Sleek installation

Opening the box and unpacking the two layers of wires and components, I was initially hesitant about how simple it would be to install.  Hesitation was completely unfounded as I quickly discovered.

First step, clean a spot on your roof for the antenna and place it on the roof with its strong magnet – about 60 seconds.

Second, run the cable through a window or door – another 15 seconds.

Third, connect the cable to the booster port and stick the booster under a seat or out of the way.  Run its cable toward the front of the vehicle. Maybe two minutes more.

Fourth, hook the cable from the phone cradle to the booster cable – 15 seconds

Fifth, hook the power cable to the booster and plug the other end of the power cable into a 12v supply port.  One more minute.

Sixth,  place the magnetic vent mount on the blades of your airconditioner vents and snap the cradle to it.  Experimented with a couple different locations, so it probably took another three minutes. And, we’re done.  Lots of steps, but, really nothing complicated at all.

So now what?  Does it make a difference?

Whenever you drive, it’s simply a matter of sliding your cellphone into the expanding cradle.  The top lights up to indicate it has power and the top slides up so you can install just about any phone.

The holder is open at the bottom so you can accommodate your charging cable.  In fact, it comes with little clips to keep your wire parallel.

One caveat – my phone was already in a protective case with a magnetic back.  Turns out, I got better performance by removing it from the old case, before attaching it to the Drive Sleek.

But yes – I did notice a performance increase.  No matter where we drove, all our calls sounded perfectly clear.  In places where my phone might normally show 2 or 3 bars, we were showing 4 or 5 bars.
