This is the third part of a four-part mini-series on Annapolis, MD. The series covers Historic Annapolis, Family Water Fun, Places to Eat and Places to Stay.
Food choices are phenomenal
If there’s one certainty about Annapolis, it’s the depth and breadth of dining choices within the city. When I last visited a couple years ago, there were more good options than I could possibly try in a long weekend, and now they’ve added dozens more. Here are some of the ones we just tried…and loved.
Fox’s Den
Right downtown, you’ll find Fox’s Den at 179-B Main Street. (I think ‘B’ stands for basement, so head down the stairs.) This rustic spot, with its flaming hot pizza oven and dynamite casual food choices, is a guaranteed winner. http://foxsden.com.
For a special taste treat, try their St. Patrick pizza. It’s like a Rueben sandwich, but it’s a tasty pizza instead. Amazing. The scallops and dessert were awesome as well.

Iron Rooster
Located right across from City Dock, at 12 Market Space, the Iron Rooster serves a wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. The stucco and brick interior make for a warm inviting feel, perfect for a morning meetup.
We stopped for breakfast and absolutely loved everything we tried. Breakfast is served all day long if that’s your thing (like me.)
You’ve got to try the Candied Bacon, and the Chicken and Waffles. We tried as many of their items as we could, and they all scored a ‘10’.
This two-story historic building is but one of four locations for the Iron Rooster.

Boatyard Bar and Grill
Over in Eastport, you’ll find these next two culinary delights: Boatyard Bar and Grill is located at 400 Fourth Street, not far from the Annapolis Maritime Museum.
Headlined by their award-winning crab cakes, their menu is just overloaded with super choices for seafood, appetizers, pizza, salads, and more. I over-ate with just a bowl of Cream of Crab Soup and the Finley’s (four) Fantabulous Fish Tacos.
Pick your table carefully and you can sit right where Michelle and Sasha Obama sat back in 2010.

Carrol’s Creek Café
If you want to step up your dining experience, Carrol’s Creek Café is a perfect choice. Located at 410 Severn Avenue, it’s a tad tough to find. Pull in the office parking lot and it’ll be at the back end of the building on your left. Despite its hidden location, you’ll be rewarded with some sumptuous fine dining.
The white table clothes and fresh flowers set a perfect backdrop to the artistry of the chef’s creations. Beautifully plated and tasting just as perfect, there wasn’t anything more we could have expected from our dinner. From the wedge salad through the final desserts, it was an evening to remember.
