This is the final part of a four-part mini-series on Annapolis, MD.  So far we’ve covered Historic Annapolis, Family Water Fun, Places to Eat and Places to Stay.

Today we’re talking rest and relaxation. Grab a pillow and get comfy.

Wandering the city streets of downtown Annapolis is a joy for architectural lovers, nautical buffs, foodies, and people-watchers in general. From just the historical perspective, Annapolis has more original 18th-century buildings than any other city in the United States. But after all that walking, you’re going to need a place to rest your head at the end of the day.

Loew’s Annapolis Hotel

Loew’s is our perennial pic for convenient, full-serve accommodations while staying in Annapolis. It’s just a short walk to the Annapolis Visitors Center, to the free-to-ride Circulator, and to most of the downtown attractions.

Loew’s Annapolis Hotel is a full-service hotel that will delight either business or vacation travelers.  198 guestrooms and 17 suites are tastefully decorated in a nautical theme of blues and greys. Rooms look out on either the city streets or an internal atrium.

Large flat-screen TV’s will please the most tech-savvy guests while the ultra-comfortable beds provide that good night’s sleep we all desire. The bed was super comfortable, although it was a “hike” to get up onto the mattress. Once there, one would hate to leave, as everything was so plush.

Loew’s Annapolis Hotel’s list of amenities is legendary (and most welcomed by seasoned travelers.):

  • 100% Combed and ring-spun cotton terry towels and bath sheets
  • Julien Farel skin and body-care products
  • Julien Farel shampoo and conditioner
  • The Ultimate Doeskin robe by Chadsworth & Haig
  • Keurig coffeemaker with gourmet coffee
  • On Demand movies
  • Makeup mirror
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Julien Farel professional hair dryer
  • 24-hour room service
  • In-room safe, with enough space for a laptop
  • Guest dry-cleaning and laundry service
  • Wake-up calls
  • Flat-panel TVs
  • CD player
  • Mini Refrigerator upon request
  • Complimentary Fitness Center
  • Spacious work desk with ergonomic chair
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Premium Plus Wi-Fi available (fee applies)
  • Two telephones with dual voice lines and voicemail

Free internet is available in-room and in all public spaces.  Its “Free Internet” actually has decent bandwidth and was a joy to use. (My suggestion is to not order the Premium Wi-Fi until you’ve tried the standard.)  Other AV needs can be met for meetings or conferences through an in-house partner. A business center is available for work needs and a fitness center is available to keep you in shape while on the road.

Front desk staff and valet crew were all wonderful to deal with.  Our car was always ready as soon as we came down, and we appreciated having it parked under the overhang so we could enter the car without being affected by the nor’easter that happened to roll in while we were there.

In-room dining is available 24 hours per day, but if you get a chance, take a peek in the Baroak Cookhouse and Taproom.  It looks to be a delightful, leisurely place to while away the time during a meal, dessert and drinks.

Other hotel options

Sometime in summer of 2018, Hilton should be unveiling a new Hilton Garden Inn at 174 West Street on the site of the former O’Callaghan.

Slightly further out, but convenient for someone with a car, Hilton has both a DoubleTree and Hampton Inn & Suites.  The Hampton boasts a recently completed $3-million renovation of all rooms and public spaces.

If Marriott is your brand, you’ll probably enjoy the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, Autograph Collection.  Other popular options include Flag House Inn and Historic Inns of Annapolis.
