Enclave Audio Cinehome HD

When the box arrived with the new Enclave Audio Cinehome HD  5.1 Wire-free HD Audio home theater speaker system, I was surprised at the size and weight.  Most 5.1 systems I’ve check out recently were small and sounded just as small. Not the Enclave Audio system. The cabinetry is solid and it’s a good thing, because when you crank these guys up, they are going to rock your house.  Your DVD collection never had it so good before.

After starting softly, and appreciating the full 5.1 surround sound effect, it was time to demo some DVD soundtracks, like the opening scene from Top Gun. Okay, I watched it three times in a row, loving the stereo separation and room rocking sound.

But lots of stereos can fill your room with sound, how about filling your house…and beyond? With just my PC powering the speakers, I wound it up all the way and left the room. From my office in the front of the house, I walked the entire depth of my home, opening the patio doors out back.  Walking outside and 50 feet away from the house, I could still hear every word of the lyrics and every note of each soundtrack. Awesome.

The system will connect via HDMI, audio line-in or Bluetooth.  The only downside presently is that you need an HDMI monitor to see the menu.  A future smartphone app will eliminate that situation and allow you to control the speakers from your phone.

One clue that I can give regarding setup is to be aware of the “Blue” on/off light on the center control module.  When the light is burning bright blue, the unit is ‘’off.”  When it’s barely visible, the unit is “on.” That was counterintuitive until they explained that the dim blue light is less distracting while watching your movies.  Makes sense now.

Setup took just minutes and being wireless, you can place the speakers anywhere there is power without worrying about tripping over speaker wire.  If you are looking for a premium sound system and want to really enjoy your music, check out the Enclave Audio line.

If you’ve ever looked at some of the Audio magazines on your local retailer’s shelves, you know that most systems reviewed are in the $5,000 and up category, making them out of reach for many home theater owners.  At an MSRP of just $1,199 with free shipping, this makes Enclave Audio not only attainable, but certainly the best value available at anywhere near this price point.

For the audiophile:

Enclave Audio has designed this system using the Wireless Speakers and Audio (WiSA®) standard and will support up to 5.1 channels of uncompressed 24-bit audio. Enclave Audio uses the 5.2-5.8GHz band, not existing home wireless Wi-Fi, to reduce interference when transmitting such dense data streams and as such is not dependent on home wireless networks. This proprietary network is created specifically for one purpose: the flawless delivery of crystal clear, uncompressed audio, to every speaker in the system in an incredible 5 milliseconds.
